Brandmeister Belgium and TG206

TL;DR: TG206 can be used without any restrictions but without support from the Brandmeister Belgium crew.

Lately a lot of gossip has been buzzing about re-introducing TG206 country-wide instead of the region-related TGs 2061 and 2062.
Currently TG2061 is static on most repeaters in Flanders and TG2062 is static on most repeaters in Wallonia.
Some sysops want to re-introduce TG206 as static Talkgroup on all repeaters and switch TG 2061 and 2062 from static to dynamic.

Since the Brandmeister Belgium team does not see a specific reason to do so, we do not support this idea.
On the contrary, because this change would mean that all DMR users need to change their codeplug, we voted against this proposal.
Furthermore, past experience has shown that a nationwide TG caused more frustration than efficiency.
As a result, the official stance of Brandmeister Belgium is “We are not in favor of this proposal”.

Because repeater sysops are free to configure their repeaters at will, we cannot prevent them from doing so.
We also do not block TG206 anywhere in the Brandmeister network, it can be used just like any other TG.
However we can not and will not provide user support in case of problems with the use of this TG.

In short: TG206 can be used without any restrictions.
We as Brandmeister Belgium simply do not see the use case, that is all.
